Whether you ride a powerful destrier or a light palfrey, your horse is your main partner in joust or re-enactment and a loyal companion that deserves good protection.
Protections designed for XV century horses were often surprisingly luxurious: in 1449 most great lords following the King of France rode magnificent steeds wearing gold plated chamfrons. Idem in 1491, the bards (horses armours) and chamfrons of the destriers of the bodyguards of the Duke of Lorraine were embellished with gold ... and in 1451, the mount of the Seneschal of Béarn even worn a chamfron covered with gold and priceless precious stones !
The chamfron we offer is far more sober, as only its point is gold plated. But it will allow you to match the protection of your steed and your own harness. If you wish to re-enact an officer or a wealthy man-at-arms it is surely a must have !
