The arming doublet is probably the most important element for a beginner who starts to assemble his armour. It is probably one of our best items and surely the project we are most proud of !
Typical of the XV century, the arming doublet is thinner and shorter than gambesons and pourpoints of previous centuries. It's the ideal garment for comfortably wearing a full plate harness without overheating under the blazing sun of summer battlefields.
The elegant and historical “grande assiette” cut of the sleeves allows maximum mobility of the arms (even when wearing legs armour!) Furthermore, the waist lacing will keep your waist narrow and well supported... which clearly help comfortably wearing the leg harness (with the weight on the waist and not on the shoulders) and will offer you a much appreciated + 2 in charisma ! ;-)

A large number of eyelets will allow you to lace your hose to your doublet and to properly lace with arming points each part of armour in the right place. And our SPECIALLY DESIGNED LEATHER REINFORCEMENTS at the hip ensure that the weight of your leg armour won't tear the fabric, even if you fall from your horse!
NO PADDING INSIDE! This doublet is crafted in the historic manner, using several layers of sturdy canvas sewn together. FORGET THE NIGHTMARE OF YOUR GAMBESON BAKING YOU ALIVE: with our LIGHT HISTORICAL DOUBLET, YOU WON'T SWEAT TO DEATH!
The most comfortable way of wearing a leg harness is to lace each leg on the side eyelets of your doublets… not on the eyelets near your “balls”.
Choose your arming doublet very close to the body. On the first days it is quite uncomfortable but once it is shaped to your morphology, it is like a second skin. (The best way of choosing size is to try it and make sure you can extend both arms and clap your hand without hindrance in the back.)
Note : thanks to the lacing and the well-designed cut, our arming doublet will make most of your belly “disappear” if you have any. (For a more slender silhouette and nice +2 bonus in charisma;) It is therefore quite possible to have several centimeters more than the "recommended waist" and still wear the doublet elegantly.
Note : If you have quite broad shoulders and you are close to the maximum recommended chest size then choose the size above because it will be more comfortable in battle
